Awqaf closes all mosques in Gaza to prevent the outbreak of corona

The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs decided to close all mosques in the Gaza Strip “temporarily” and to stop Friday and congregational prayers there, for a period of two weeks, from dawn on Wednesday, March 25 to the end of Tuesday, April 7 next.

The Ministry noted that the Friday prayer during this period is performed at noon in the homes. Confirming that the call to prayer will be carried out in its known times, and the muezzins are obligated to call “pray in your homes” after completing the complete call to prayer

Al- Awqaf said that this decision was taken based on a meeting of scholars, muftis and specialists in the Gaza Strip today, Tuesday, regarding the legal measures related to congregational and Friday prayers.

She added: “The decision comes in light of the preventive measures in the face of the Corona epidemic, after listening to the opinion of the competent authorities in the Ministry of Health and the governmental emergency committee regarding the estimates of the current stage and the procedures that must be followed to ensure the effectiveness of safety and prevention measures, especially after the detection of two infected cases arriving from abroad and their interdiction.”

It called on citizens to maintain congregational prayers in their homes, while making sure that the calamities of calamity are observed in the obligatory prayers.

She pointed out that the Council of Scientists, Muftis and the people of competence that took place today will meet during the aforementioned period to assess the situation in the light of developments and directives from the competent authorities.

Last Sunday evening, the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in the Gaza Strip called on citizens in the Strip to take a series of precautionary measures to prevent the arrival of the Corona virus in Gaza

On Saturday, the Ministry of Endowments issued a decision to all muezzins in mosques in the Gaza Strip to reduce the waiting period between the call to prayer and residence, so that the time becomes 10 minutes in all prayers.

And she confirmed that this decision will start from the day before yesterday (Sunday), starting from noon prayer, and it will remain in effect until further notice

Al- Awqaf indicated that this decision comes within the framework of the preventive measures taken by the Ministry to reduce the rate of assembly and friction between citizens in order to prevent corona virus infiltration into them and to preserve their safety

last week, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Gaza Strip issued an important statement regarding the procedures for the prevention and safety of the Corona epidemic and to preserve the lives of worshipers in mosques.
