This came in a televised statement broadcast by the Libyan private channel “February”, for a spokesman for the media center affiliated with the government of Al-Wefaq Mustafa Al-Mujie.
“After the criminal forces of Haftar are weakened, and he receives a complete defeat in the west, we will definitely see a breakthrough in the eastern region,” Al- Mujie said.
Al-Mujai relied on the people of the eastern region to confront the Haftar militia, as happened before with the late Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi, as he lost control of the eastern region in 4 days after a popular uprising in 2011.
“The forces of the criminal Haftar are not like the forces of Gaddafi at that time, and the liberation of the eastern region may be in another record time, and without firing a single shot,” Al-Mujai said.
Within days, the Libyan army achieved a series of victories against the militia of Haftar, which continued to suffer heavy losses due to harsh strikes in all cities of the western coast to the borders with Tunisia, the strategic Al-Wattia base, and the cities of Badr and Tiji (northwest).
Since April 4, 2019, the Haftar militia has launched a faltering attack to take control of Tripoli, the seat of government, targeting residential neighborhoods and civilian sites, leaving civilians dead and injured, along with extensive damage.
